From 26th to 30th September, Devonshire Square will be hosting the “Italia, amore mio” Festival, organised by the Devonshire Square’s Events Team to promote Italian gastronomy and music, whilst fundraising in support of the Italian Red Cross’ earthquake relief effort.
The Festival will offer visitors the opportunity to taste some of the most authentic Italian delicacies typical of distinctive regions which are not commonly available in restaurants or gourmandises located outside Italy.
The richly assorted gastronomic selections will be available for tasting and purchasing in the “Duomo delle Delicatezze” (Dome of Delicacies), an 8 meter diameter pavilion, located at the end of Devonshire Square’s Avenue, where delicacies from 8 different Italian regions will be on display.
Luxury boutique catering brand Sardo will tempt visitors to an exotic presentation of sea food, including mullet’s eggs from the Sardinian Sea, sea urchin, squid ink, the finest quality tuna caught along the uncontaminated coasts of Carloforte’s island and a variety of organic cheese, including the “Callu Sardu”, made with such a rare and unique crafting that only a few companies are allowed to produce and sell it.
The special Pasta crafted in the hillside town Gragnano, the birthplace of dry pasta, will be available at the Campania’s stand, together with and an exclusive range of sauces by Neapolitan Master Chef Rino de Feo and a rich variety of liquors made with lemons from Sorrento, melon juice and liquorice cream.
The Cioccolato di Modica, an Italian P.A.T specialty chocolate typical of the municipality of Modica in Sicily, will be among the temptations showcased by Sicilian food specialist The Sicilian Lab, while the most authentic pesto, made exclusively with marble mortar crushed-up basil from Cinque Terre will be among the highlights of the Liguria region’s display.
A selection of traditional gourmet specialties will also be available on the food stalls along Devonshire Square’s main entrance on Cutlers Street, where visitors will be able to indulge in 20 different kinds of traditionally home-made lasagne, both savoury and sweet, by Neapolitan pasta specialists Mister Lasagna. Their offer will range from the most traditional Bolognese to truffle sauce, from vegan dressings to indulgent mascarpone & Nutella, as well as lasagne with both cheesecake & red berry sauces.
This culinary offer will be accompanied by an artistic programme of free-attendance lunch time concerts by internationally acclaimed tenor Yuri Sabatini, swing singer Chris Vinante with the Tony P. Riccio Trio, dramatic tenor Yannis Hadjopulos, as well as a tribute to iconic Italian singer Mina by talented vocalist Laura Araldo.
The Devonshire Square’s community will be fundraising in support of the Italian earthquake appeal during the whole duration of the Festival.
Collection boxes will be available at all Devonshire Square’s receptions, in the “Duomo delle Delicatezze” as well as at the stalls located along the estate’s entrances in Cutlers Street.
The “Italia, amore mio” Festival is a FREE attendance event – the “Duomo delle Delicatezze” will be open from 11am to 8pm (closure time TBC) while the artistic performance will take place in the historical surroundings of Devonshire Square’s Western Courtyard from 12.30pm to 2pm.
